BEHIND THE BLADE · CARRY OPTIONS
Choosing a knife usually starts with the blade and handle. Living with it every day also means choosing where the sheath sits and how it attaches to your clothing.
Our cooperation with ULTICLIP adds three distinct options to that conversation. Here is a closer look at the SLIM 2.2, XL and APH, shown on AtraxTac sheath setups.
SLIM 2.2: a small attachment without a belt
The SLIM 2.2 clamps directly to suitable clothing. Its narrow shape makes it an option worth considering for compact everyday-carry setups. Two screws can be used in the mounting slot to help resist rotation.

The clothing is part of the system: thickness, stiffness and condition affect the result. ULTICLIP specifies a maximum clamping thickness of 0.12 inch, approximately 3 mm, for the SLIM. A thicker waistband is not automatically a better match.

ULTICLIP XL: a locking loop around your belt
The XL uses a locking steel belt loop. It accommodates belts up to 1.5 inches (38.1 mm) wide and 3/8 inch (9.5 mm) thick. Multiple mounting points allow different positions on compatible sheaths.

The removable multitool includes a flat screwdriver and wrench openings. For carry, the key distinction is the locking loop around the belt. Inside- or outside-the-waistband use depends on the knife, sheath and chosen configuration.

APH Clip: a different approach to belt mounting
The APH is a spring-steel wire clip. Slotted mounting holes allow angle adjustment, and the design accommodates belts from 1.5 to 1.75 inches (38.1–44.5 mm) wide. A suitable sheath layout can support vertical or horizontal configurations, including scout carry.

Its wire construction is visibly different from the SLIM and XL. Choose it for the mounting arrangement it offers, rather than assuming all ULTICLIP models attach in the same way.

Start with your carry position, then check the fit
Do you use a belt? Where should the handle sit? Do you prefer a vertical or horizontal setup? Those answers narrow the choice, but the sheath still needs checking for hole spacing, clearance and correct hardware length.
The clip holds the sheath on clothing or a belt. The fit of the sheath retains the knife. Both need to work together. Periodically inspect the hardware and clip, and follow ULTICLIP’s maintenance guidance, especially after exposure to moisture.
What comes next?
These three models are our starting point. We intend to expand the range as we assess additional options for our knives. Contact us with your knife model and a sheath photo to discuss compatibility.
