Why I need serration on knife?

Serration works like a wood saw. It cuts through a given material faster by tearing. We are not talking about a piece of paper here, because it will cut better with a smooth cutting edge, I mean fabrics, wood, carrier tapes and ropes. Serration will not make an even and smooth cut, it will only tear the given material, but it will allow you to achieve the intended goal faster.
